Size DOES Matter

Oct 25th, 2012

Portion control is critical when it comes to eating right. On the left side of the picture is a  typical sized dinner plate. To the right is the salad plate. Can you guess which one I use? I guarantee that no matter how little you think your portion is on a dinner plate it is still too large. A simple way to control portions is to use a smaller plate. Just don’t cheat the plate (or yourself) by piling the food high! I also suggest packing the dinner plates away until you need them for a special occasion. An additional benefit from developing the habit of eating from a smaller plate is that you will find yourself easily offended by the ridiculously large portions that restaurants serve. Because of this I know longer order entrees when I am out. I eat something light before I go to ‘dinner’ and order an appetizer instead. Try it!

I do this. I have large plates but they are mostly for display :)

I did this the other night. I am struggling to lose the baby weight, or should I just say weight since baby is 16mos old now. I realized I can not have multiple helpings of anything. One portion. Done.
